On 28 May 2024, the Czech National Bank will issue the seventh gold coin from the series Urban Monument Reserves. Its theme is the city of Olomouc.
The coin is minted from 999.9 gold and is issued in two versions, regular and proof, which differ in surface finish and edge design.
In the top-grade coins, the field of the coin is highly polished and the relief is frosted, while the edge is smooth.
The obverse side depicts the heraldic animals from the great state emblem, namely the Czech lion at the top, the Moravian eagle in the middle and the Silesian eagle at the bottom. Below the Silesian eagle is the denomination of the coin with the abbreviation of the monetary unit '5 000 CZK'. To the left of the heraldic animals are stylised Gothic arches and to the right an architectural fragment from the Olomouc Town Hall with the astronomical clock. At the left edge of the coin is the text "CITY MONUMENT RESERVATIONS". At the upper right edge of the coin is the text 'CZECH REPUBLIC'. The Czech Mint mark, which consists of the letters 'Č' and 'M', is to the left of the central band.
On the reverse side of the coin is a collage of important architectural monuments of the Olomouc City Monument Reserve. In the foreground is the Holy Trinity Column and the bell tower of St. Moritz Church. In the background is the ground plan of St. Moritz Church. At the upper edge of the coin is the text 'CITY OF OLOMOUC'. The year of mintage '2024' is at the lower right edge of the coin. The initials of the author of the coin, academic sculptor Zbyněk Fojtů, which are formed by the composition of the letters 'F' and 'Z', are to the left of the upper part of the Holy Trinity Column.
Each coin is accompanied by a red catalogue card with a description of the coin and its sculptural representation.
The coin is housed in a red case with the CNB logo in gold.
